Bachelor of Arts in Art History
The Bachelor of Arts program in Art History is designed for those who wish to pursue careers in museums, galleries, or arts organizations and/or pursue further study at the graduate level. Students majoring in Art History must take upper division courses in three major art history discipline areas: Non-Western Art (Asian, Pre-Columbian, Latin American, African); Medieval/Renaissance Art; and Modern/Contemporary Art. Art History majors must maintain a GPA of at least 2.50 in the major and complete a senior thesis before graduation.

Students must take 24 hours of upper division Art History courses. Of these, they must take a minimum of two courses (6 hours) in each of the three art history discipline areas: Non-Western, Medieval/Renaissance, and Modern/Contemporary.

Additional Requirements
Art History majors are required to take twelve hours of one foreign language. Six of those hours must be at the intermediate or advanced level.

A fifteen-hour minor, taken from courses in art or another liberal arts discipline, approved by the student's academic advisor, is also required.

To complete the 120-hour requirement of the University, students will need to take six hours of elective courses. These should be chosen in consultation with the student's advisor.
