Department of Health and Human Performance (HHP)
The Department of Health and Human Performance (HHP) offers students the opportunity to prepare for professional careers as teachers of health and of physical education, directors in industry and social agencies, as recreation and leisure service professionals in a wide range of settings, and as health and fitness professionals in schools, industry, and allied areas.
Undergraduate programs in the department lead to the Bachelor of Science degree with majors in Athletic Training, Communication Disorders, Exercise Science, Health Education, Leisure, Sport, & Tourism Studies, and Physical Education. Persons majoring in Health Education may select from concentrations in Health Education and Lifetime Wellness, as well as Community and Public Health. Persons majoring in Leisure, Sport & Tourism Studies may specialize in Recreation Administration, Outdoor Recreation, Sport Studies, or Tourism Studies.
Minors in Athletic Coaching and Officiating, Driver and Traffic Safety Education, Health, Health and Physical Education, Health and Human Performance, and Recreation are also available.
The Department of Health and Human Performance offers three Master of Science degrees:
one with a major in Exercise Science; one with a major in Health and Human Performance
with concentrations in Health and in Kinesiology; and one with a major in Leisure
and Sport Management with concentrations in Recreation and Leisure Services and in
The department also offers the Ph.D. in Human Performance with specializations in five areas: Exercise Science, Health, Kinesmetrics, Leisure Studies, and Physical Education.
