Charles Myatt

From Chattanooga, Charlie Myatt came to middle Tennessee to attend MTSU.  He received his B.S. degree in Marketing in 1969 and then returning to Chattanooga began his banking career with First Tennessee Bank. 

He graduated from the Tennessee School of Banking at Vanderbilt University, the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University; and the Executive Education Program of First Tennessee Bank’s In-House Program.

Charlie served in numerous positions with First Tennessee since he joined them almost 40 years ago before becoming the Regional President in 1988 and again returning to Murfreesboro and middle Tennessee.

First Tennessee Bank is a member of the First Horizon National Corporation, a premier financial services company with a long history of success and traditions dating back to 1864. Today, the company, one of the top 30 bank holding companies in the U.S., is known for exceptional customer service and a deep commitment to people. 

Throughout his career, he has maintained a constant connection with MTSU serving on numerous boards and committees including past president of the Blue Raider Athletic Association; MTSU Presidents Advisory Committee, Chairman of the MTSU Miller Trust Association; MTSU Foundation President and past Board Member, and President of the MTSU Rutherford County Alumni Association.  In 2000, he was named a MTSU “Distinguished Alumni” and the Blue Raider Athletic Association “Business Person of the Year.

Charlie is an active member, deacon, and past chairman of the budget and finance committee at First Baptist Church, Murfreesboro.  Additional civic involvement includes Chairman, Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce; Chairman, Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Commission;; President of the Boys and Girls Club of Rutherford County; Board member of the Guidance Center; Board member of Main Street; Board member and treasurer of Leadership Rutherford, and Chairman of the Chattanooga Better Business Bureau.

Other awards include induction into the Hixson High School Hall of Fame; Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce “Business Person of the Year; Daily News Journal-SunTrust Bank “Humanitarian of the Year;” Paul Harris Fellow, Rotary Foundation International; and State of Tennessee Recreation and Parks Association “Four Star Award for Excellence in Parks and Recreation.”

He and his wife of 42 years, Judy, have three grown children and five grandchildren.
