2018 Delegation of American Education Administrators


 

1. Mission

To enhance the understanding of American educational administrators, and Chinese language teachers about the Chinese educational system, to boost the Chinese language/culture education in American schools, and establish the partnership between Chinese schools and American schools, the Confucius Institute at MTSU invites 10 American educational administrators to attend the 2018 Delegation of American Educational Administrators (2018 DAEA) hosted this summer in Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Beijing China.

2. Hosts and Co-Hosts

  • Chinese Language Council International (Hanban)
  • Hangzhou Normal University (HNU)
  • Confucius Institute at Middle Tennessee State University

3. Places

Beijing – Hangzhou – Shanghai                                                            

DAEA will fly to Beijing, and stay in Shanghai for 2 nights. Then take a train to Hangzhou, and stay in Hangzhou for 4-5 days. Finally, ride a shuttle to Shanghai, and stay for 1-2 days before flying back to the States.

4. Itinerary (TBD) The following is an example only as dates may change slightly. 

Starting from June 18 (from Nashville to Beijing), coming back from Shanghai to America on June 27, a total of 10 days, visiting Shanghai, Hangzhou and Beijing.

5. Participant Requirements

  • Educational administrators in Tennessee or “Key Teacher”
  • In good health and suitable for international travel
  • Interested in bettering the educational opportunities for students

6. Procedures for Application

  • Participants should RSVP on or before February 15th,2018 through e-mail/phone call to Mike Novak at Michael.novak@mtsu.edu or 615-904-8127
  • Participants should mail a package before March 10, 2018 with
    • Liability Release/Waiver Form
    • A copy of participant’s passport
    • Final RSVP form

7. Cost

  • The estimated cost of this trip is $2000/person, which covers international airfares and visa fees. The participant is responsible for their airfare and visa.
  • Hanban will pay all in-China expenses. 

8. Numbers of Participants

The total number of the delegation will be no more than 10 people. Mr. Michael Novak, the Assistant Director of the Confucius Institute at MTSU, and/or Yingzhen Zhao (Jack), the Associate Director, will be leader of the delegation.
