Research with Animals

The Office of Research Compliance is committed to the humane care and use of all animals used for teaching and research at the University. Historically, many advances in science resulted from animal research and animals continue to play an integral part of scientific research. It is important for researchers to realize that healthy research animals maintained in a stable environment is essential for quality research. Compliance is necessary to support research efforts and by working together, the highest quality of animal research will be promoted.

Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)
The IACUC reviews and monitors all research and teaching projects involving animals at MTSU in accordance with the Laboratory Animal Welfare Act and the National Institutes of Health Guide.

If you have any questions about animal care and use at MTSU, please contact the Compliance Office at (615) 898-2400 or email iacuc_information@mtsu.edu.  Please email your animal care concerns or your report on a potential breach of Research Compliance, such as animal abuse, to/ compliance@mtsu.edu.  We respect your anonymity and your report will be kept confidential.
