Orientation for Family Members

Sending your student off to college is a big step. It is an important time in a young person's life, a time to develop new friendships, goals, and viewpoints. CUSTOMS is an orientation program carefully designed to help make the journey into this new world informative and exciting.

Orientation for family members is offered for relatives of freshmen students who will be attending MTSU for the first time. CUSTOMS orientation is offered on dates that are available throughout the summer to accommodate different schedules.

Registration is required and cost for the orientation and overnight accommodations apply.

photo We encourage freshman family members to attend CUSTOMS. They have many questions and concerns which can best be answered at CUSTOMS. Administrators, faculty and students ( SOAs ) will be on hand to talk informally with parents, spouse, or other family members in small group sessions and to answer questions throughout the program. While we encourage the participation of your family, CUSTOMS is not designed for small children. Daycare is not available. Parents have the opportunity to join the MTSU Parent Association at CUSTOMS. Remember, there is an additional fee for each family member to attend CUSTOMS in the summer. No fees apply for the Spring CUSTOMS session.
