A native of Atlanta, Dr. Brantley has taught at Georgia Tech and the University of California at Santa Barbara. At MTSU he teaches courses in southern literature, modern American literature, professional writing, and film. His Feminine Sense in Southern Memoir won the 1992 Eudora Welty Prize. In 1996 the University Press of Mississippi published his Conversations with Pauline Kael. Most recently, he has edited a fiftieth anniversary edition of Lillian Smith's Now is the Time. Among his extracurricular loves are Karen Black, Sylvia Miles, Jennifer Warnes, Linda Ronstadt, wine, and coffee.
