Biography

Marie Elliott has earned two M.F.A. degrees, first in Film Production from Ohio University and then in Creative Writing from Georgia College and State University. She teaches courses in scriptwriting and film and video production. Her professional interests include study abroad, VR, and documentary production. Her short films have won numerous regional awards and have had several international screenings.

Marie Elliott has earned two M.F.A. degrees, first in Film Production from Ohio University and then in Creative Writing from Georgia College and State University. She teaches courses in scriptwriting and film and video production. Her professional interests include study abroad, VR, and documentary production. Her short films have won numerous regional awards and have had several international screenings. 

She is Chair of the Writing Division of The Broadcast Education Association. In 2014-15 she was awarded fellowships by The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, The International Radio and Television Society, and The National Association of Television Producers and Executives. Along with her teaching responsibilities at MTSU she also co-teaches an online course in American Media for Klaipeda University in Lithuania. 

In her spare time she enjoys traveling to distant lands, section hiking the Appalachian Trail, and spending time with her husband and three cats and two dogs. She worked in the film industry in Atlanta, GA from 2004-2011 and is a native of South Charleston, West Virginia.
