Director of the Student Health Center
Rick Chapman serves as Director of the Student Health Center. Before joining the staff at MTSU, Mr. Chapman obtained his B.S. in Economics and Finance from Union University in Jackson, Tennessee. He attended the University of Alabama in Birmingham where he obtained both a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Health Administration. Over a period of ten years, Mr. Chapman has been employed at three different hospitals in Kentucky, and joined the MTSU Student Health Center in the fall of 2000.
Dr. Eric Clark joined the staff at MTSU Student Health in August of 2004. Dr. Clark completed his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering at Tennessee Tech University in 1988. After working three years in polymer engineering for Dow Chemicals in Louisiana, he attended LSU Medical College in Shreveport, LA. After medical school, Dr. Clark completed his family practice residency at the University of Tennessee-Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Dr. Clark was in private practice in Murfreesboro for six years prior to joining MTSU. He is board certified in family practice.
Shandora A. Dorse, MDAS, PA-C (Physician Assistant) attended Trevecca Nazarene University where she graduated with a BS degree in allied health. Ms. Dorse completed her Master's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Nebraska Medical Centers. She joined the staff at MTSU in the spring of 1996 and maintains ACLS certification.
Director of Nursing
Maureen Nokes, RN, has over 20 years of nursing experience. After graduating form Providence School of Nursing in Mobile, Alabama, Ms. Nokes has provided patient care in both the hospital and home health settings. She joined the nursing staff of the Student Health Center in the fall of 2001 and maintains her BLS certification.
Kay Boyd, RN, joined MTSU Health Services on a full-time basis in 2008. She received her nursing degree from MTSU. Prior to joining Health Services, she worked in numerous hospital settings and also as an educator in the medical industry.
Susan Center, RN, moved to Tennessee in 1979 from New York State. In 1981, Ms. Center became licensed as a Practical Nurse through Shelbyville State Technical School, Shelbyville, Tennessee. She subsequently attended the MTSU School of Nursing, where she obtained her BSN in 1992. Ms. Center has provided patient care in the Murfreesboro City School System, working with special education students at Northfield Elementary and most recently she was employed as a dialysis nurse.
Alba Coppola R.N. relocated from Queens, N.Y. in 1994. She joined Student Health Services in 2004. She received her Nursing Diploma from Flushing Hospital School of Nursing in 1976. Her 40 years experience includes both hospital and clinical experience in L&D, Post Partum, GYN and Urology. She maintains her BLS certifications.
Vicky England, RN, joined Health Services in August 2007. Prior to joining MTSU, she worked over 20 years in critical care in hospital settings. Vicky received her A.D. nursing from Columbia State Community College and her BSN from the University of North Alabama.
Susan McConnell, RN, joined MTSU Student Health Services on a full-time basis in the fall of 2005. She received her BSN from Tennessee Technology University in 1985. Prior to joining Health Services, she worked in both hospital and primary care office settings. She is BLS and FAA certified.
Melissa Gray, RN, joined MTSU Health Services in the fall of 2005. She received her nursing degree from the University of Kentucky and has over 20 years of nursing experience in both hospital and home health settings. She maintains BLS certifications.
Leslie Shearon, RN, joined MTSU Health Services in August 2011. She also worked at MTSU as a PRN nurse for two years before joining the staff full-time. Prior to working at MTSU , she worked for over 30 years in the operating room at St. Thomas Rutherford. She received her A.D. degree in Nursing from MTSU in 1980 and is BLS certified.
X-Ray / Lab Tech
Sonia Brown, MDXL, joined Health Services in May 2008. She received her associate degree in 1987, her x-ray license in 2001 and her MRI license in 2006. Sonia worked in both hospital and clinical settings before joining the staff.
Lori Beth Adams
X-Ray / Lab Tech
Lori Beth Adams, R.T.(R)(CT)(AART) joined Health Services in 2010. She received her degree in 2008, then immediately following passed her boards for her license. In 2009, she took her computer tomography boards and received her CT license. Lori Beth worked in a hospital before joining the staff and is currently working on her ultrasound license.
Tabby Ragland, Pharm.D. serves as the Director of Pharmacy at Health Services. She joined the staff here in May of 2008. Tabby graduated from the University of Tennessee Memphis with a Pharm.D. degree in 1994. She has had fourteen years of retail pharmacy experience before coming to MTSU.
Lisa Schrader, MPH, CHES, joined the Health Services staff in 2008 as Director of Health Promotion. Lisa earned a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition from MTSU in 2002 and a Master's degree in Public Health Education from Western Kentucky University in 2004. She also received her credential as a Certified Health Education Specialist in 2004. Lisa provides programming and consultation to MTSU student groups on a variety of health topics and supervises Health Services' peer education group, the Raider Health Corps.
Carolyn Powers, Secretary II, obtained a Secretarial Associates Degree from MTSU in 1975. Ms. Powers joined this university in 1979, and was initially employed in the Psychology Department. In 1989, she joined the staff at the Health Center providing registration assistance to students and secretarial support to the staff.
Vickie Bailey, Secretary II, came to MTSU in 1994. Ms. Bailey provides registration assistance and coordinates and maintains immunization records of MTSU students.
Ashley Neill, Secretary II, obtained a BBA from MTSU in 2001. She joined the Health Center in 2004. She provides registration assistance to students and maintains the office website.
Sheila Balch, Secretary II, joined the university in 2006. She was initially employed by Phillips Bookstore before joining Health Services in 2008. Sheila has been an Ace Certified Fitness Instructor since 1989 and teaches aerobics at the Recreation Center.
