Submission Notes

The Office of Research Compliance only accepts online submissions. An MTSU faculty member MUST email the completed application and forms as attachments to compliance@mtsu.edu IN THE ORIGINAL FORMAT. Students must have their faculty advisor email their applications by including a statement of their approval of the project to the Office of Research Compliance.  Online training through the CITIprogram MUST be completed prior to submitting the petition(s).  Additionally, a health screening is required of all faculty, staff, and students engaged in animal research.  Refer to the FAQs for more information.

The CITI training must be completed prior to seeking IACUC approval.  Please refer to the following outline to make your determination.  
  • Using animals for teaching - Investigators, Staff and Students - Basic Course
  • Using animals for testing or  research - In addition to the basic course, other courses MUST be completed
  • IACUC member - Specific courses need to be completed
