LGBT+ Scholarships

Diversity Scholarships at MTSU

All LGBT+ students are eligible to apply for a MT Diversity Scholarship. MT Diversity Scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, diversity, and financial need. These scholarships are awarded for one academic year only; students must reapply each year to be considered.  

The standard award amounts for the MT Diversity scholarship is $1,000 per year for full-time enrollment; the award will be prorated for part-time enrollment or early graduation. Selected recipients may additionally be awarded a $500 "high need" amount for an EFC of 12,000 or less and/or a $500 "high ability" amount for a GPA of 3.0 or higher, for a maximum award of $2000.

MTSU Lambda Association Scholarships

MT Lambda Advocacy Scholarship

To be eligible for this scholarship students must:

  • be a full member of the MTSU Lambda Association
  • be in good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 2.5
  • complete an essay of 1,000 words to be judged by MT Lambda Faculty Advisor and current Officer Board.

LGBT + Heroes Scholarship

To be eligible for this scholarship students must:

  • be an officer or member of MT Lambda for a minimum period of one academic semester
  • be in good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • be in good social standing as defined by the Office of Student Affairs
  • demonstrate financial need for academic or personal support
  • submit an essay of 1,000 words outlining how you meet the requirements and any supporting documentation.

    Academic achievement, personal merit, leadership, involvement in the LGBT+ community, professional experiences, marginalization, and personal and future goals may also be taken into consideration.
