Award-winning songwriter takes another one
MTSU alumnus Luke Laird garnered ACM "Album of the Year" honors along with artist Kacey Musgraves and co-producer Shane McAnally for 'Same Trailer Different Park' during the 49th Annual Academy Of Country Music Awards at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on April 6, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Read more here.

Family of George Jones establishes scholarship at MTSU
Nancy Jones, the wife of George Jones, announced Monday that her family has established a scholarship fund at Middle Tennessee State University with the hope that it will become a living memorial to the country legend. Nancy made the announcement at a ceremony in Nashville to unveil a monument erected in honor of George Jones, who passed away April 26 at the age of 81. Read more here.

MTSU Recording Industry Department to Host AES Education Conference
The Audio Engineering Society’s first conference dedicated specifically to audio education will focus on teaching methods, instructional resources, learning outcomes, technical operations, areas for research, and similar topics that are relevant to organizations and individuals who provide theoretical and practical training in all areas of audio engineering.

The aim of this conference is to address these topics through a focused series of presentations, papers, workshops, case studies and discussions among professional audio educators, trainers and administrators. The conference will be peer driven, and its outcomes will include a collection of formal papers, historical documents, survey instruments and potential recommendations for educational resource management and development.

Over 30 peer-reviewed papers and posters have been accepted for presentation along with eight workshops and tutorials. For more information visit the conference web site or Facebook page.
