Sanjay Asthana, associate professor of journalism, earned his Ph.D.in Journalism and Mass Communication in 2003 from the University of Minnesota. He also holds an M.Phil. in Philosophy, and a Master's in Communication from the University of Hyderabad, India. Dr. Asthana teaches courses in media design, visual communication, globalization, communication technologies, and cultural studies.
He worked as a radio broadcaster at the All India Radio in India, where he scripted and produced current affairs programs and numerous documentaries on social and political themes. Dr. Asthana's major research areas include globalization and media, visual communications, postcolonial theory, and cultural studies. His research appeared in the Journal of Communication Inquiry, Critical Studies in Media Communication, among other journals, and essays in several media studies books. Dr. Asthana is the author of the book, Innovative Practices of Youth Participation in Media published by UNESCO, Paris in 2006. Curriculum Vitae.
