Media Arts Productions is MTSU’s varsity team for live TV production. This team of students produces live TV sports broadcasts including MTSU football, men’s and women’s basketball, as well as the TSSAA Boys and Girls State Basketball Championships. This TV production team’s work regularly appears on ESPN+ and ESPN3, and other national and local channels.

Media Arts Productions has twice won the national award for Outstanding Live Game Production in the Collegiate Student category of the Sports Video Group and National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics College Sports Media Awards. It has won several awards from the Broadcast Education Association Festival of Media Arts.

Media Arts Productions also produce concert events such as the “Capitol Records Street Party” featuring Luke Bryant, Eric Church, Eric Paslay, among others and “Freedom Sings” at the legendary “Bluebird Café.” We also have produced several seasons of the interview/performance series “The Songwriters” seen on over 125 PBS stations nationwide.

Just like athletic teams, students must try out for positions and practice to build their skills, and they get no academic credit for being on the team. And just like athletes on the field, when they fumble, the audience knows it. What they do get is professional-level experience to help make them job-ready upon graduation.  All grade levels are eligible, so it is possible for a student to have four years of production experience the day he or she graduates.

Teamwork, performance ability, and TV production skill are what it takes to make this team. Do you have what it takes?”
