ADMISSION GI BILL® CHOOSING A MAJOR GETTING INVOLVED

Choosing a Major and Selecting Classes

Decide on a Degree/Career Path

Here is a full list of degrees offered at MTSU.

If you are undecided, the Career Development Center has a number of useful tools to help you determine the best degree for you.  Also, stop by the center and talk to Heather Conrad, the VetSuccess on Campus counselor. She can help you with vocational exploration and assistance in selecting a suitable career/major.

Academic Advising

Academic Advising is a requirement of all students using the GI Bill®.  Your academic advisor will be one of your most important resources at MTSU. Your advisor can help you choose the classes you need to take and register for them.

  • If you have decided on your major, you will be assigned an advisor from the department of your major.
  • If you have not decided on a major, you should contact the University College Advising Center at (615) 494-7714 or advising@mtsu.edu. You will be assigned an advisor and can schedule a meeting (please remember, you must have formally declared a major in order to receive GI Bill® funding).

Confirm Class Schedule and Pay Fees

Once you have registered for classes, you will need to confirm your class schedule and pay your fees. It is important to do this before the deadline, otherwise you will be automatically unregistered for your classes. View registration and payment deadlines here.
