College is the first step in transitioning from adolescence to adulthood. As adults, you take on the responsibility providing everything you need without help. This can include finding appropriate and affordable housing, applying for and learning about funding and scholarship opportunities, as well as, registering for classes. Growing up as an independent student prepared me for being able to independently find maintain a steady income to be able to provide for myself, however, transitioning from high school into college is completely different. There are more requirements for applying for colleges and preparing to attend college. Without help, this can be very overwhelming. Next-Step is beneficial to independent students as a whole.
