“Welcome to the Big Leagues!”

Friday, August 22nd

  • We-Haul (all-day)
    Living on campus? Members from MTSU’s 250+ student organizations will be at your residence hall to help assist you during the move in process. You bring it, “We-Haul” it!
     
  • Dinner and Courtyard Carnival | 6pm | Student Union Commons
    There will be a free dinner Friday night in the Student Union Commons for students and their families. There will also be lots of games and inflatables where you can test your skills both mentally and physically.

Saturday, August 23rd

  • President’s Opening Night Ceremonies: Special Guest Jay Allison | 5:30pm | Floyd Stadium
    This event marks the beginning of a new academic year for MTSU students. Come hear remarks from Jay Allison - the author of the MTSU summer reading book This I Believe, President Sidney McPhee, Vice President Debra Sells, and SGA President Andrew George. Learn about traditions, hear the Band of Blue perform, and get a Class of 2018 picture on the football field.
     
  • President’s Picnic following the Opening Night Ceremonies | Floyd Stadium
    Immediately following the Opening Night Ceremonies, the President’s Picnic will take place in Floyd Stadium. This is a free event for all who attend. Be prepared for delicious, traditional “cookout” foods!

Sunday, August 24th

  • Dinner | 6:30pm | Student Union Commons
    Come one, come all! There will be a free dinner Sunday night for students and their families in the Student Union Commons. Once the sun goes down and it is dark enough outside, we will then start the outdoor movie. We will be playing The Sandlot. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair and come enjoy a movie under the stars.

Tuesday, August 26th

  • Meet Murfreesboro | 10am-2pm | Student Union Commons
    Local businesses, restaurants, doctors’ offices, and so on.. will be set up in the Student Union Commons sharing information about the services they offer to students in the Murfreesboro area. Students can expect to load up on coupons, discounts, and free samples from many of Murfreesboro’s finest businesses.

Wednesday, August 27th

  • Meet Murfreesboro | 10am-2pm | Student Union Commons
    Local businesses, restaurants, doctors’ offices, and so on.. will be set up in the Student Union Commons sharing information about the services they offer to students in the Murfreesboro area. Students can expect to load up on coupons, discounts, and free samples from many of Murfreesboro’s finest businesses.
     
  • Comedy Showcase | 6pm and 9pm | Student Union Ballroom
    Come kick back, relax, and LAUGH with a free stand-up comedy performance. Free for all MTSU students.

Thursday, August 28th

  • MTSU Department Fair | 11am-1pm | Student Union Commons
    Departments from all over campus will come together in one centralized location to share information about what they do and resources they provide for students.
     
  • SGA’s Fight Song Competition | 7pm | Student Union Commons
    Come out and enjoy one of MTSU’s longest standing traditions. Watch student organizations compete in a singing and dancing competition using only lyrics of the MTSU Fight Song.

Friday, August 29th

  • Match Records Presents the Welcome Week Concert | Student Union Commons
    MTSU’s own record label, Match Records, will be entertaining campus with live music all night long. Come enjoy some of Middle’s most talented students and alumni.

Saturday, August 30th

  • #TRUE Tailgate | 3pm - 5pm | Walnut Grove
    The office of Alumni Relations invites all new freshman and transfer students to the #TRUE Tailgate in Walnut Grove! Learn all you need to know about tailgating on your first MTSU game day. FREE FOOD, arcade games, skeeball, music and more will be waiting for you to celebrate your first game day experience as a BLUE RAIDER. Look for the tailgate tent set up in the Grove near the blue horseshoe. We’ll see you there!
     
  • Football Game vs Savannah State | 6pm | Floyd Stadium
    Come out wearing your MTSU blue and cheer on the Blue Raiders to victory in their home opener.

Sunday, August 31st

  • Game Day at the Rec Center
    You won’t want to miss this fun event! Rec Staff will be hosting a free event for students to come and explore and use the Rec Center.

Monday, September 1st

  • Night of the Walker Dead | 6pm-9pm | James E Walker Library
    It’s zombie night at the Walker Library! Join us for a night of fun in what is typically a quiet zone. Visit library.mtsu.edu/walkerdead.php for more information!

Tuesday, September 2nd

  • Volunteer Fair | 10am-2pm | Student Union Commons
    Local non-profit organizations will come to campus in the Student Union Commons and share with students how they can get plugged in to community service and volunteer opportunities with their organization. Come see how you can make a difference in the community!

Wednesday, September 3rd

  • Student Organization Fair | 10am-2pm | Student Union Commons
    MTSU has over 250 student organizations to choose from. There is literally something for everyone! Come check out what MT has to offer and find out how you can become a part of something you enjoy.

Thursday, September 4th

  • Crash the Commons | 7:00-Midnight | Student Union Commons
    This annual event will test your physical and mental abilities with classic field day games.
