Project Coordinator, Campus Planning
I began working at MTSU in 2000 when I was offered a great job opportunity close to home. I felt as if I were coming home. I grew up around the university—my parents attended when I was a child and I also graduated from MTSU.
I stay at MTSU because of my co-workers and because of the satisfaction I obtain by accomplishing goals that I have set for myself in my job.
I'm responsible for the Physical Facility Inventory which is a database of building spaces, property information, and floor plans. I also help develop and maintain our Geographic Information System (GIS) and create campus maps. The highlight of my career at MTSU was being nominated for administrative employee of the year. I really enjoy what I do, but the best part of my job is watching MTSU grow and grow. I enjoy being part of that. And I truly enjoy the energy level of the campus, an atmosphere full of growth and excitement.
The one thing that sets MTSU apart from other schools is the dedication of the faculty and staff to our students and our university. For instance, my department participates in the Scholarship Service Program here on campus. Students learn and gain valuable experience for their futures. Students work right alongside all of us to get the hands-on experience they will need after graduation. I think everyone on campus really likes seeing students grow and develop. In turn, our campus and community can grow as a whole.
Murfreesboro is a growing southern town that still has a small-town feel. It is a good place to raise a family. There are many school options for children. There are numerous places to shop and eat. Murfreesboro's central location enables one to experience many things, including professional football and hockey games, performances by world-class musicians, horse shows, zoos and aquariums, hiking, fishing, on and on.......
And while Murfreesboro is a great place to live and play, MTSU is a great place to work. The benefits are good. Even though we have more than 2,000 employees (including the faculty), there is still a feeling of family. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved and participate in all the programs and events that make MTSU special. Come be part of our MTSU family! Then you can be one of Tennessee's Best, too!
