APR graphicMURFREESBORO, Tenn - Each of Middle Tennessee's 17 athletic teams have earned a multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) of over 930 once again in 2015-16 as the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) released its annual report on Wednesday.

The Blue Raiders have now done so for eight years running, with each team coming in at over 945 in the most recent multi-year APR report.

The most recent APR scores are based on a multi-year rate that averages scores from the 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16 academic years. The Blue Raiders had 10 of 15 sports (indoor and outdoor track counted as one) with a 980 or better while women's golf boasted a perfect grade of 1000.

Three teams were close behind women's golf with multi-year scores of over 990, including women's soccer (997), women's volleyball (995) and men's golf (992).

Men's track (989), women's basketball (986), baseball (983), football (983), men's cross country (981) and men's basketball (980) rounded out the 10 Blue Raider programs to score 980 or above in the 2015-16 multi-year APR.

Football's impressive multi-year score of 983 equaled the second-best score in Conference USA and the state of Tennessee.

Also finishing in the Top Three in Conference USA were women's golf (T-1st), men's track (2nd), women's soccer (T-2nd), men's basketball (3rd) and baseball (T-3rd). Women's soccer had the top multi-year APR in Tennessee and was joined among the top of the ranks in the state by women's golf (T-1st), men's basketball (3rd), men's track (3rd) and women's volleyball (T-3rd).

In addition to high levels of success in the multi-year APR, 13 of 15 sports received scores of 980 or better in the 2015-16 single-year APR, with baseball, men's basketball, men's cross country, men's tennis, men's track, women's cross country, women's golf and women's soccer earning perfect scores of 1,000.

Every Division I sports team calculates it's APR each academic year. Scholarship student-athletes each semester receive one point for remaining eligible and one point for staying in school or graduating. Teams scoring below certain thresholds can face consequences, including practice restrictions and playing season reductions. Rates are an average of the past four years' performance. National aggregates are based on all teams with usable data at the time of analysis.

In order to compete in the 2017-18 postseason, teams must achieve either a 930 multi-year APR or a 940 average over the most recent two years.

Middle Tennessee's women's golf team, led by head coach Chris Adams, was recognized by the NCAA last week for earning the Public Recognition Award based on their most recent multi-year APR. These awards are given each year to teams with APRs in the top 10 percent in each sport. It was the fourth consecutive year women's golf was honored with the award.
