Why are you running for Homecoming King?
As homecoming king and queen, we should embody what our campus embodies in us. Our morals, values, community relationships, and our True Blue spirit. MTSU has given me an opportunity for my future, friendships, and family that constantly strive to help me be the best version of myself. Being homecoming king would allow my voice to be heard throughout our student body. I want to strive for not only our campus, but also our entire community to be True Blue and do more than just go to class and go home. Deciding to go to MTSU was one of the best decisions I made when I graduated high school and I would love nothing more than to represent our campus and be a positive light to our entire student body while running for homecoming court. I would be honored to represent Middle Tennessee and MTSU as Homecoming King for 2016.

If you were selected King, what would you do to improve the quality of student life at MTSU?
Middle Tennessee State University is known as a huge commuter school. The majority of our student life goes to class and then home, not spending much time figuring out what more they could be involved in. My goal as homecoming king is to promote our campus involvement. Even something as simple as having more attendance at a football game, completely changes the atmosphere. I want to strive to explain to our students all of the things that they have the opportunity to be involved in, between Greek life, athletics, and multiple clubs, there is so much on our campus that truly gives our students “the full college experience”. During my time running for homecoming king, my main focus is to be a communicator for students and be someone they can come to about student involvement.  I believe communication and genuine friendships is what will get our student body more involved.

Why are you running for Homecoming King?
I am running for Homecoming King to show my love and commitment to our MTSU family. For me, being Homecoming King is not just a title. It also comes with the privilege to serve as a face and representation of the student body. I have strived to be a positive influence on campus through involvement in multiple organizations including serving on the Leadership Team in the Baptist Collegiate Ministry, a member of the National Society for Leadership and Success, my Executive position in Phi Delta Theta, my role as a Student Ambassador, serving as a Senator on SGA, and serving as president of the Student Nursing Association. It would be an honor to serve as your Homecoming King.

If you were selected King, what would you do to improve the quality of student life at MTSU?
If elected Homecoming King, I would hope to rekindle a passion in the student body here at MTSU. I would encourage participation on campus as well as our community. Being enrolled at MTSU doesn’t just make you a college student; it makes you a BLUE RAIDER! I want this passion to be carried with students after graduation. My hope is that I can share my enthusiasm and excitement for MTSU with everyone I encounter.

Why are you running for Homecoming King?
Being involved here at MTSU was one of the best decisions I have made since coming to college. From Housing, joining the Greek community, to becoming a Student Orientation Assistant, being involved has helped make me not only a better student but also a better person. One of the ways I am involved is as a Brother of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, the first Fraternity on MTSU’s campus (1966). It is currently the 50th anniversary of the fraternity and though we have been here so long we have never had a Brother run for Homecoming King. Because 50 years is such an accomplishment for an organization I feel as if it is my obligation to run for King.

If you were selected King, what would you do to improve the quality of student life at MTSU?
I have always been a firm believer of leading by example. As I stated before, being involved is the best decision anyone can make while here at MTSU. It opens doors, build lasting friendships, as well as further ones ambitions in their selected fields after college. Most importantly it makes college more than just 4 years of sitting in lecture halls and staying up late writing papers.  If elected Homecoming King students who are just starting their time here, or maybe even those who have been here for many years, will want to make a conscious effort to become a member of this great community we have and not just another person in a classroom. So even if you don’t vote for me go out and join a club, fraternity or sorority, society, or any organization we have. With your help we can make this campus into what we want.

Why are you running for Homecoming King?
I am running for Homecoming King because I want to be a positive representative for my Campus, my Community, and my Fraternity. As a Sophomore on campus I got to watch one of my closest friends and mentor Jonathan Gandy win the prestigious title. Being from Murfreesboro, I’ve attended almost every home football game including Homecoming games and can remember watching countless individuals get crowned, and hoping to experience that same joy for myself.

If you were selected King, what would you do to improve the quality of student life at MTSU?
If elected, my main goal would be to create a more unified campus that includes school pride and spirit. As a former mascot, Lightning, for the university I have seen firsthand how incredible the athletic programs are on campus. Unfortunately, I have also seen the lack of local attendance. It would be my hope that I could act as a speaker to the community to help rally the community to the games and make MTSU games the talk of the nation.

Why are you running for Homecoming King?
I am running for Homecoming King to use this position as a platform that will allow students to collaborate more in and out of the classroom. We have one of the most diverse schools in the State, and now we just need someone that will help bring students together. I know that this is something I can achieve if selected as the 2016 Homecoming King.

If you were selected King, what would you do to improve the quality of student life at MTSU?
When a King is elected, he is chosen based on influence, impact, and his ability to effectively serve the community.  I will use these characteristics to increase the awareness of the organizations that are offered at MTSU. I believe that by doing this students would be able to find their own niche and be a member of the True Blue Community. Thus, improving student life, retention rates, and the culture of MTSU.

Why are you running for Homecoming King?
Becoming the Homecoming King is a remarkable experience that one cannot pass up the opportunity to achieve. Being involved on MTSU’s campus has made my time magnificent which encourages me to reach out to MTSU students and show how they can become involved with the True Blue movement, organizations, and actively involved in campus events of any sort.

If you were selected King, what would you do to improve the quality of student life at MTSU?
As Middle Tennessee State University’s 2016 Homecoming King, representing MTSU by promoting student leadership, involvement, and dedication to making our community better are my top goals.  Through embracing our True Blue movement by serving others, it will lead us to a lifetime of commitment and belonging with the community which we love.

Why are you running for Homecoming King?
I am running for Homecoming King because I’ve stepped out of my shell each year I have been here on the campus of MTSU and this year I want to represent those who are just like me who thinks that this is just for a show, but it’s actually for a bigger purpose. To show that you’re willing to step out of your comfort zone and make lasting connections. A king possesses leadership, and knows how to handle every situation: good, bad, or indifferent. Also a king’s word is law plus a king embodies the area of his kingdom. I believe that I have all of those qualities and characteristics to be Homecoming King.

If you were selected King, what would you do to improve the quality of student life at MTSU?
If I were to be selected King, one thing I would do to improve the quality of student life at MTSU is to show everyone how to have an opened mind not be prejudice towards one another. This university preaches and hangs its hat on diversity. Being a young man from Memphis, TN I want to continue to improve that each time I step foot onto campus. Also, I would interact with the students to help improve what they do and/or don’t like about the campus to help build this campus for the future.

Why are you running for Homecoming King?
I am running for Homecoming King because the experience is one that I feel will represent a proper culmination of my 4 years here at MTSU. I have been involved in almost every facet of student life at the University, and Homecoming is something that I have always wanted to be a part of. Also, my campaign will allow me to shed light on how valuable campus involvement can be in regards to career, as well as how much my time here at MTSU has better developed me as not only as student, but as a professional, as a friend, and as a man.

If you were selected King, what would you do to improve the quality of student life at MTSU?
If elected Homecoming King, my presence in multiple organizations on campus and influence in others would allow me an audience when it comes to putting on events that keep student life on campus interesting. Also I would make it a priority to find out the elements of the college experience that students feel they are being deprived of here at MTSU and work with the proper individuals to try to rectify those shortcomings, so that as many needs as possible are recognized and addressed accordingly.
