Theatre Department

Deborah Anderson

Professor of Performance Studies

Deborah Anderson is a professor of theatre at Middle Tennessee State University where she most recently directed Titus Andronicus and Angels in America. In March 2013 she had her first NYC production of her play, Edible Feet. This was a very happy event because it was with the newly created SlapDab Theatre Company's Tennessee Project created by former students. Deborah has directed over 80 productions at Middle Tennessee, from Mother Courage to RENT but is most proud of the production of a student written and created stomp, Rhythm in You, and a student written musical, Underwear the Space Musical. Deborah was Chair of Region IV, KCACTF in 1994-97 and Playwriting Chair of Region IV in 2006-2009. The most fun she had with KCACTF was when she was on the National Selection Team in 1998. Just recently Deborah directed Lone Star in New York at the SlabDab Theatre Project. She received her MFA in Performance (Acting and Directing) at the University of Florida. The production of her children, Lucas, Suzy, and Ian has always been her finest work!
