Computer Science, Professional Computer Science Concentration, B.S.
The professional computer science concentration program is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET. This ABET accreditation provides assurance that a college or university program meets the quality standards of the profession for which that program prepares graduates. This accreditation ensures that graduates have met the educational requirements necessary to enter the profession. Provides opportunities for the industry to guide the educational process to reflect current and future needs.
MTSU graduates are valued by employers ranging from tech titans such as Google, Microsoft, Meta to big companies in different industries like HCA, Schneider Electric, Deloitte, and Caterpillar. Employment in the field is projected to grow at a rate of 25% percent between 2021 and 2031 with a median annual pay of $109,020 at 2021 based on the report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The Computer Science Department strives to produce graduates with strong problem-solving, communication and team skills who are able to design, implement and document computer software systems. Not surprisingly, such graduates have historically been valued by employers in the industry.
Students graduating from this program are well qualified to pursue Ph.D. degrees in prominent universities. In the past, our students have been accepted to the Ph.D. programs in Vanderbilt University, North Carolina State University, University of Waterloo, Indiana University--Bloomington, and Middle Tennessee State University.
