Study Abroad Overview

Review Steps to Studying Abroad for more information.

Education Abroad Advising

To begin, students must explore program options via MTSU’s Office of Education Abroad webpage. Students who plan to participate in an education abroad program should meet with an Office of EA advisor for advising. This meeting should occur at least 6-12 months prior to their program of interest start date. Additional advising sessions are welcomed.

EA Advising Details
Located in Jones Hall
Walk-ins accepted Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday 1-4 p.m. during Fall and Spring terms.
Students can also schedule by emailing educationabroad@mtsu.edu.

Academic Advisor Approval

Once students request pre-approval for their program of choice (e.g., university partner, MTSU Faculty-Led, or affiliated external program), they must meet with their assigned academic advisor to ensure course selection fulfills academic requirements in either major, minor, or general elective credit domains. Advisors are then required to document the approved course(s) on the Education Abroad Course Approval Form. The Office of Education Abroad encourages students to provide course descriptions and/or syllabi when meeting with an academic advisor.
