Applied Leadership – Tullahoma

adult students in a classroomMTSU is taking one of their most popular Applied Leadership courses on the road to the Moore County campus of Motlow State Community this May!  The course, LEAD 3000, will meet on two Friday-Sunday periods. Some online coursework will also be required. 

The schedule of the course has changed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Both Motlow and MTSU have canceled all in-person meetings for Summer 2020 courses. That means that the LEAD 3000 course will still be taught, but in a remote format using a combination of online and live web meeting instruction. The courses already scheduled to be held online will not be changed. See the new schedule below and read more about MTSU is handling the virus here.

Class Schedule

Friday & Saturday, July 24 and 25 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Sunday, July 26 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Friday & Saturday, July 31 and Aug. 1 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Sunday, August 2 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.


This specialized curriculum is for adult learners employed in business and industry. The Applied Leadership program provides up to four individual undergraduate certificates covering topics needed in today’s business environment. Each certificate consists of two 7-week online courses and an onsite intensive training with some additional online coursework. Click here to learn more about the Applied Leadership program.

Other Summer 2020 Online Applied Leadership Courses

May 18 – June 26: Leadership Theories and Practices | LEAD 3010

This course examines prominent leadership theories, approaches and research.

June 29 – August 7: Business Ethics | MGMT 3940

This course studies the impact of individual values and ethics on business operations, including management of the organization and marketing. Topics include legal and ethical aspects of dealing with the environment, consumers, employees, and the general community.

Completion of all four certificates will fulfill the major requirements of the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Integrated Studies — Applied Leadership Concentration. This interdisciplinary program is offered in partnership with the following MTSU departments: Communication Studies, Management, Military Science, Psychology, Sociology and Anthropology, and University Studies

The Bachelor of Sciences has three primary components

  • General education (41 hours) – Adults often have these credits from prior institutions. 
  • Elective credits (48 hours) – You can earn up to 60 elective credits through Prior Learning Assessment. Learn more here.
