2022 MTSU Economic Impact on Tennessee
MTSU is responsible for more than $1.42 billion and almost 11,500 jobs in Tennessee in 2021, according to a recent study by the Business and Economic Research Center. The BERC study found the university is Murfreesboro’s second largest employer with 2,270 local jobs and generates $143.6 million in local, state and federal tax revenue, according to an MTSU news release, an increase of 63% from five years ago.

Tennessee Trade Report - Q2 2022: The second quarter of the year was a strong one for Tennessee exporters. Exports rose
to $9.848 billion, a 17.3 percent increase from the second quarter of last year. This
was the 23rd best performance among the 50 states, as nationally exports rose 22.1
