MTSU Campus Recreation
Adaptive Recreation and Exercise
Campus Recreation’s new Adaptive Recreation and Exercise program provides students with disabilities and special needs the opportunity to participate in both fitness and recreational programs. Being active is easy and fun, and there is almost always something that you can participate in, including adaptive exercise (assisted or independent), outdoor adventures, therapeutic water exercise. A new exercise room with specialized equipment for those with mobility issues is now available for use. Some equipment in the weight and cardiovascular rooms can also be adapted. Students may also participate in a variety of other activities offered or you may also volunteer to help fellow students, or simply share your recreational experiences with others who may not be aware of what is available to them. Get active; and if we do not have an adaptive program for you, we are interested in things we can offer in the future.

Adaptive Exercise Equipment
Our new equipment includes a Motomed Exerciser and two standing frames. The Motomed is used mostly for mobility disabilities and exercises the arms and legs using electronic assistance. The East Stand Evolve is a standing frame designed to lift a person to their feet using hydraulics. The East Stand Evolve Gilder is a standing frame that also allows upper and lower body workouts with a gilding motion. These machines help with bone density, blood circulation and pressure related pains and issues. Also available are weights, standard equipment in the Rec and soon the Wii Fit.
