Trips and Clinics

Every trip that we offer is carefully planned, trip leaders are trained in the specific activity, and at least one staff member holds a wilderness first aid / responder certification to ensure everyone’s safety. All trip fees include transportation, activity specific equipment, permits, lodging when applicable, miscellaneous fees and trip staff. Food is not provided, but staff will give recommendations on what people should bring. Pay attention to trip ratings in terms of skill levels, but most of the trips are appropriate for all skill levels. We can’t wait to have you join us!

We also offer clinics throughout the year, and most of them are free. We ask that if you register for them, please try to show up as we are counting on registration numbers to determine staffing needs, and if nobody shows up at the last minute, we must cancel. If you register for two or more free offerings and do not show up, we will suspend you from being able to register for free activities for one month.

Trip Registration

You can sign up online or in person for MTOP trips and clinics, and if you have any questions before registering, please email blake.osborn@mtsu.edu

Cancellation Info

Once payment for trips are received, refunds will not be given unless approved by the MTOP coordinator. We recommend that before signing up, you double check your availability for the trip dates as we do not want you to overcommit. We have had trouble with participants registering and then not showing up for the program, and then we have open spaces that cannot be used by others.  MTOP reserves the right to cancel a program due to inclement weather, natural disasters, lack of participation, or extenuating circumstances. In the event we must cancel a program, a full trip refund will be provided automatically.

IMPORTANT: Some trips have a mandatory pre-trip meeting during the week before a trip. If you fail to attend the pre-trip meeting, you will be unable to attend the trip.

Note:

These are high adventure activities so please be aware that there are risks involved. MTOP strives to minimize these risks, yet all elements of risks can never be eliminated. To prevent any problems, follow all instructions given by the trip leaders, follow all safety guidelines and regulations. Please read, fill out, sign and date the trip health form and hold harmless agreement. Your information will remain private.
