Please consider having your classes participate in MTSU’s 3rd Annual Celebration of Student Writing, which will take place in the Miller Education Center on Friday, April 19, from 1:00-3:00pm.

Hosted by General Education English, this writing exhibition will introduce the wider university community to the exciting work happening in English classes by showcasing a wide variety of student writing, from projects developed in first-year writing and sophomore literature classes to academic and creative compositions completed by advanced English students.

Instructors are encouraged to ask students to create low-tech and interactive visual presentations (individual or collaborative), such as posters, artifacts, and/or small-scale reenactments (dressing up as a person, character, etc.) so that students might practice writing multimodally and for an audience outside of the classroom (we have a number of examples from last year, so you're welcome to check those out! Also, students are invited to reuse old tri-folds). In addition, we had  a number of wonderful performances and readings last year - we hope to expand this feature this year! And finally, one way to encourage your students to participate in this event is to allow them to present at the Celebration of Student Writing in lieu of taking a Final Exam.

Please fill out our registration form before March 19th if you plan to participate. Even if you don't know exactly what your students are going to do at this point, please RSVP anyway so that we can get a headcount!
