This book addresses the art, history, and theory of film in three parts: moviemaking, contexts, and contents. It focuses mainly on the Hollywood Style, the characteristic mode of commerical moviemaking and the foundation of film aesthetics. The text concentrates on a limited number of significant movies to provide greater depth of knowledge and understanding, gradually expanding the number of films with each chapter.
