Shelley Moore received an associate of science degree in nursing from the State University of New York in 1979, a baccalaureate degree in nursing from the State University of New York in 1981, and a Master’s in nursing administration in 1987 from Barry University, Miami Shores, FL. Shelley Moore received an associate of science degree in nursing from the State University of New York in 1979, a baccalaureate degree in nursing from the State University of New York in 1981, and a Master’s in nursing administration in 1987 from Barry University, Miami Shores, FL. In 2013, Dr. Moore obtained a Ph.D. in Health Sciences with a concentration in international health education and research from Trident University, Cypress, CA. Dr. Moore’s research interests include staff nurse work environment, student nurse learning environment, critical thinking, student empathy, student willingness to work with older adults and those with dementia, and effects of high fidelity simulation on hospital staff teamwork. She teaches various nursing courses in both undergraduate and graduate programs with a particular interest in gerontology, and she has served as a volunteer long-term care Ombudsman for the State of TN. Dr. Moore came to MTSU in August 2010 with 31 years of nursing practice in New York State, Florida, and Tennessee. She has published a dozen articles in high-impact journals and has contributed to continuing medical education for the UAB School of Medicine, Birmingham, Alabama. Dr. Moore has done multiple national and international professional presentations for many years.
