The League of Women Voters of Murfreesboro is a nonpartisan organization that encourages active participation in government through a variety of programs and initiatives, particularly relating to issues affecting women. Founded in 1957, the Murfreesboro chapter is committed to its roles in Voters Services/Citizen Education and Action/Advocacy. To build citizen participation in the democratic process, LWV-Murfreesboro/Rutherford County presents unbiased information about election issues and the voting process. The League does not support or oppose any candidate or party, but uses their position to advocate for or against particular policies in the public interest.
LWV-Murfreesboro/Rutherford County has been involved in a number of projects to serve Murfreesboro and Rutherford County. They organized poll watchers for early voting and Election Day in the 2016 election.
