Biographical Note

Visiting professor Carol Kammen assigned her 2015 maymester students to create scrapbooks with journal entries detailing each students’ daily encounter with history. This assignment was for the course “Current Issues in Public History Practice: On Becoming a Public Historian.”

Scope and Content

The collection consists of the scrapbooks of five students. Additional items included are photographs and historic site materials such as keychains and brochures.

Caleb Knies’ entries include information about family heirlooms, restaurant memorabilia and TV shows.

Jenny Andrews’ entries include information about family artifacts, artwork, and Tennessee landmarks.

Jenna Stout’s entries include information about the Murfreesboro Heritage Center, Ryman Auditorium, and Stones River Battlefield. Other class papers also included.

Marquita Reed’s entries include information about memory, Tallahassee, Florida, and African American history and protests.

Michael Fletcher’s entries include information about Murfreesboro, TN neighborhoods and architecture and Rutherford County cemeteries.
