Desk Assistants

A Desk Assistant (DA) is a student staff member who is responsible for the safety and security of the residents within the hall of the desk that they are working. DAs can work at the front desk of any building/area and maintain a desk log, appropriate desk paperwork, and serve as a customer service representative for Housing and Residential Life at MTSU. DAs provide lockout keys, check out equipment, and offer overall support to the running of the building/area and the area staff. Successful DAs will demonstrate an ability to work appropriately with students, faculty, and staff of all backgrounds, while providing customer service to their area.

This position is an hourly paid position ($9/hour) with the opportunity to work up to 25 hours a week. Shifts will only be up to 5 hours at a time, and can be at anytime of day or night in accordance with the desk’s needs and the Desk Assistants availability. Weekday and Weekend shifts are available. The position is paid in a monthly direct deposit. This position requires a criminal background check including fingerprints, and will require HR Paperwork, which includes the necessity for a Social Security Card. International Students who don’t currently have a Social Security Card will be given instructions for how to obtain one.
