2000 Inductee David Blumberg

David M. Blumberg, a retired insurance agent who was a former president of B'nai B'rith International, died Wednesday after open heart surgery at the Washington Hospital Center. He was 78 years old and lived in Washington.

He was president of B'nai B'rith, the Jewish social service organization, from 1971 to 1978 and also served as president of the National Association of Life Underwriters.

From 1966 to 1972 he served on the Knoxville City Council in Tennessee. He received a brotherhood award from the National Conference of Christians and Jews.

Mr. Blumberg, a 1936 graduate of Washington University Law School, was a lieutenant with the Navy in World War II. After working for the New York Life Insurance Company he moved in 1953 to the Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company. He became agent emeritus in 1976.
