Army 1Lt. William E. Emmert Died February 24, 2009 Serving During Operation Iraqi Freedom.  He was 36, of Fayetteville, TN.  He was assigned to the 269th Military Police Company, 117th Military Police Battalion, Tennessee National Guard, Murfreesboro, TN.  He died in  Mosul, Iraq, of wounds sustained when he was shot while participating in a local Iraqi Police function.  1Lt. Emmert is laid to rest at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Lebanon, TN. 

Emmert was in the Army from 1991-1996, serving in Korea, Germany and Cuba. He entered the Tennessee National Guard in 1996.  Graduate from MTSU in 1999.  He was a Tennessee state trooper from 2000 to 2007, and was special agent for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation from 2007-2008.
