Positive Aging Conference 2022
The Positive Aging Consortium hosted the first Positive Aging Conference on June 10, 2022 at the Miller Education Center at MTSU. The purpose of the conference was to bring together MTSU faculty, students, community providers, caregivers and older adults to drive a more-productive narrative about the benefits of an increase in the average lifespan.
The keynote speaker was Dr. Julie Sweetland with Frameworks Institute. Dr. Sweetland discussed the Reframing Aging Initiative that includes, but also goes beyond, the choice of words we use to describe older adults—to frame how we think, talk about, and conduct research with older adults in ways that resonate with the public.
Other conference topics included exercise, nutrition, cognition, living environments, financial decision-making and scam prevention. There were over 100 attendees from the community!
