  • Campus Recreation Center
    6:00 AM – 3:00 PM | Rec Center | FREE with the presentation of this graphic. Visit the Rec! The Campus Rec has plenty of spaces for you to come and do your own activities or participate in group activities. Swim in the pool and go down the indoor water slide, try the fitness and wellness center, or play pickleball! While you’re there, ask about their student employment opportunities!

  • Special Collections
    8:00 AM – 4:30 PM | James E. Walker Library 4th Floor
    Special Collections is the rare book facility for Walker Library. Its mission is to acquire, preserve, and provide access to valuable, unique, and fragile materials. Family Weekend participants are welcome to stop into Special Collections and view the current exhibit, Past is Prologue: the roots of the modern academic library. The exhibit explores historical library practices and procedures, covering the public and technical aspects of library work. Materials on display include items from the collection and on loan. Library staff will be on hand to answer any questions.
  • Baldwin Photography Gallery
    8:00 AM – 4:30 PM | Bragg 269
    The Baldwin Photographic Gallery provides access to inspiring photographic works for the students and faculty of Middle Tennessee State University as well as the general public. The Baldwin Photographic Gallery has a long tradition of exhibiting photographic works of national and international stature and brings exhibiting artists to MTSU to conduct workshops and lectures. The work of Ahndraya Parlato will be on display during Family Weekend.
  • Earth Experience Museum
    11:00 AM – 4:00 PM | 816 Old Salem Rd | Entry: $10 for non-students; free for students with MTSU ID; $8 for non-students accompanying an MTSU student.
    The Earth Experience Museum exhibits archeological relics from rocks to fossils, gems and minerals, dinosaur bones, and unique archeological relics worldwide. See a working paleontology laboratory where real dinosaur bones are cleaned and repaired; the dinosaur finds the Museum staff with the help of MTSU Geoscience students uncover every summer through their active dig program in Montana, and Frank, the Museum’s 38-foot-long T. Rex skeleton!
  • Family Meet N’ Greet
    1:00 PM – 3:00 PM | SSAC 1st Floor
    Stop by the Student Services and Admissions Center to mingle with faculty, staff, and other MTSU families. Enjoy refreshments, try the MTSU chocolate milk, chat with the college deans as well as faculty and staff, and stop by for a chance to win some of our giveaways! Those who have registered for the Parent and Family Association can pick up their Welcome Kit if they have not already done so.

Afternoon Activities Shuttle

We invite you to begin at the SSAC Family Meet N’ Greet to park, sign in, enjoy refreshments, and mingle with faculty and staff. An MTSU shuttle will be present to pick up families starting at 1:00 pm and will make a continuous loop to pick up and drop off families at the following events and activities. The shuttle will stop running at 5:00 pm. After enjoying these activities, we invite you to join us for dinner in Famer’s—one of our all-you-can-eat dining halls (door rate: $12.59), and come out to the Blue Zoo Bash at 7:00 pm!

  • Center for Chinese Music and Culture

    A visit to the MTSU Center for Chinese Music and Culture is an adventure of discovery with rare and unique musical instruments, costumes, and artifacts. Each instrument has a story that reveals human life, migration, and cultural identity. This is an interactive experience. You can even play the huge bronze bells and chime stone fashioned after a 2600-year-old set and learn to write Chinese calligraphy.
  • MakerSpace Open House

    The MakerSpace is a hub for interdisciplinary work in every way. With the expertise, the equipment, and the access, students from every discipline can learn new technology skills and ways that ideas can be brought to life. Whether experiencing 3D printing for the first time or creating a prototype with electronics kits, the opportunity to experiment, learn, and try is here. Visit the Makerspace to learn about all the amazing technology available to students on campus.
  • Special Collections Family Weekend Event

    We will have items from our collections – pop-up books, medieval manuscript leaves, and early Tennessee imprints – available for viewing in our Reading Room, as well as some light refreshments.
  • Health Services Open House

    Tour Health Services! MTSU Health Services provides high-quality healthcare to MTSU students at an affordable price, regardless of their insurance status. Services provided include sick visits, physicals, x-rays, women’s health, and more! Not only does Health Services provide service to students when they become sick, but they also keep students healthy and at their best through providing free health coaching and nutrition counseling.

  • MTSU Physician Assistant Studies Tour
    2:00 PM – 4:00 PM | Cason-Kennedy Nursing Building, Room 106
    Visit with students and staff of the MTSU Physician Assistant Studies Program. MTSU’s Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (M.S.) is a 27-month-long rigorous program that is designed to provide students with the didactic education, clinical training, and educational credentials necessary to obtain licensure and practice as a Physician Assistant (PA). Enjoy a brief presentation about the PA profession and the PA program by Candance Whitley DNS, PA-C (Admissions Coordinator). Current PA students will be on hand to demonstrate the use of our teaching technology and study tools available for students, such as Anatomage tables, task trainers, and simulation mannequins.
  • Center for Popular Music

    Established in 1985, the Center for Popular Music is one of the world’s oldest and largest research centers dedicated to the study of American popular and vernacular music. In our reading room, you’ll find scholarly books related to the study of popular music as well as two early 20th century phonographs, a listening station with our staff album picks, and a cozy reading nook. However, the real treasures are behind the front desk in our archive. We have over one million popular music-related items in our archive – from 18th-century hymnals and songbooks to recent albums by Kendrick Lamar and Ashnikko, along with manuscripts, posters, zines, periodicals, CDs, tapes, vinyl records, publicity materials, and many more from different artists over the centuries.

The earlier your student engages with our office, the better prepared they will be to make their transition from college to career. We will also share some exciting new initiatives, events, and programs!

Dinner in Farmer’s
4:30 PM – 7:00 pm | Student Union | $12.59 All-You-Can-Eat.
The Farmer’s Market is our all-you-care-to-eat dining hall located in the Student Union. The main course will be a daily chef-prepared entrée with your choice of sides. It offers a build-your-own salad with fresh and local toppings, specialty sandwiches, and soup selections. Finish off your meal with homemade ice cream and milkshakes made with our very own MTSU milk.

Pickleball Community Party
6:00 PM – 9:00 PM | MTSU Tennis Complex | $30
Join MTSU Tennis for the first-ever MTSU Pickleball Extravaganza on September 13! Play a few rounds of pickleball and enjoy the DJ and food trucks! Your $30 ticket includes pickleball at the MTSU Tennis Complex on Friday, September 13, and a ticket to the MTSU football game vs. WKU on Saturday, September 14. Ticket required and available to purchase here.

Blue Zoo Bash

Party in the Grove

Come support your Blue Raiders before the football game by tailgating! Tailgating will include music, food trucks, activities, and giveaways. The tailgating activities for the MTSU v. WKU game will continue up until 5:15 pm. Timeline:

  • 2:30 PM – Tailgating Activities Begin/DJ opening performance
  • 3:00 PM – Carly Rose Musical Performance
  • 3:45 PM – Raider Walk: Raider Walk is one of our oldest game day traditions. It takes place in Walnut Grove a couple of hours before the game, when the MTSU Band of Blue plays in front of Peck Hall, and the entire football team walks through the crowd on their way to the stadium.
  • 4:00 PM – HunterGirl Musical Performance

The MT One Stop is excited to announce the 2024 Lightning’s Virtual 5k Dash!

The virtual 5k will allow students, family, friends, and the community to join together to support a great cause. A virtual 5K race can be completed at any location, any day, or any time that you choose. You can run, walk, or roll on the road, on a trail, or even use the MTSU self-guided walking tour on campus. As a participant, you will be able to share/post a picture of yourself and/or a picture of your favorite spot to run, walk, or roll.

We encourage you to share your photos and race time on Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #LightningsVirtual5K to show your support and encourage others to do the same.

All proceeds will go toward the Student Food Pantry!

Register before September 16th using MTSU Marketplace.

  • Early Bird registration – $25 (May 1- June 30)
  • Standard Registration – $30 (July 1 – August 31)
  • Late Registration $35 (September 1-16)

After registering, you will have until September 16th to complete your 5k.

A commemorative water bottle and sticker will be given out during Family Weekend at Floyd Stadium on September 14th. Medallions will be made available to the student/team representative on that day and/or will be available for pickup on September 30th at the STU, Room 210, 11:00 AM -1:00 PM and 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM. Alternate arrangements can be made for pick-up by contacting [email protected].
