Warehouse Procedures for Ordering COVID-19 PPE Supplies

In preparation for a safe return to work, the MTSU Warehouse Facility has been procuring Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for distribution to the campus community. The University provided items include reusable face-coverings, reusable microfiber cloths, spray disinfectant, and hand sanitizer stands for public and high volume areas in buildings.  Departmental no-touch thermometers have been added to inventory and are available (one per department).

To assist in maintaining a stable inventory of PPE, please use the following ordering process for your immediate departmental needs:

  • Departments may order a total of two (2) reusable face-coverings per employee.
  • Send an email to Warehouse@mtsu.edu providing name/description of items needed.
  • Warehouse staff will update requester on inventory levels and instructions on pick time and location.
  • Please note that departments may procure other PPE supplies, such as disposable masks for visitors, disposable gloves, departmental hand sanitizer, and disinfectant wipes (limited supply) through individual departmental requisition as necessary for their specific operations. These items should be ordered based on current need due to the limited supply chain.

Departments that have continued to purchase their own disinfecting and sanitizing supplies should check to make sure the items purchased meet the CDC guidelines for hand sanitizer, and all disinfectants are on the approved list of products for use against the virus that causes COVID-19:  https://www.epa.gov/pesticide-registration/list-n-disinfectants-use-against-sars-cov-2 .

Additionally, the University will provide protective barriers in areas with considerable person-to-person interactions (i.e. reception areas, advising, etc.).  Facilities Services is currently working with departments on the design and installation of these items.

These instructions are not intended to alter the procurement processes currently used by departments for PPE and supplies associated with the established requirements of their jobs.
