Aucker named to Google Cloud Academic All-America Team

photo of James BecknerMURFREESBORO - Middle Tennessee golfer James Beckner has earned Second Team Google Cloud Academic All-America Men's At-Large honors as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday. The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the playing field and in the classroom.

The at-large teams for the Google Cloud Academic All-America® program include the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming & diving, tennis and water polo for both men and women, as well as beach volleyball, bowling, field hockey and rowing for women, and volleyball and wrestling for men.

Beckner, a junior, owns a perfect 4.0 GPA in biology as he pursues a career as a dentist. On the course, Beckner has played all 35 rounds where he has a career-best 73.4 stroke average. He has 12 rounds of par or better, a top five finish and a low round of 69. Beckner was also named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team and was a member of the Google Cloud Academic All-District® team.

Beckner is the second CoSIDA Academic All-American in school history, joining Brett Patterson in 2015.
