Upward Bound

What is Upward Bound?

Upward Bound is a pre-college, academic support program that prepares high school students in grades 9 through 12 to become successful college students. It is a federally funded program that was founded in 1964 as a part of the Educational Opportunity Act under the presidency of Lyndon B. Johnson.

The program helps to ensure student success by providing academic support, study group sessions, leadership workshops, financial literacy, college admission assistance, and more. The goal of Upward Bound is to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from institutions of postsecondary education.
