Project Description

This research projects investigates the complexities of how we process language using electroencephalogram (EEG) collection measures. We seek to compare behavioral measures collected during a variety of norm-referenced reading tests with the collected EEG data to elucidate the complicated relationships that exist in the orthographically deep English language, specifically with vowels.

Why does this topic interest you?

This topic is largely of interest because it uses complex paradigms and collection measures to gather data. These intricate processes provide a challenge to be overcame and an area to learn.

What are your professional aspirations?

After completing my bachelor's degree at MTSU, I plan to go forward with my education with a master's degree in industrial/organizational psychology. I would love to then apply the immense experience I will have acquired over the years to create and evaluate training and development programs in business, as well as aiding in the hiring and selection processes.

Do you have any advice for future researchers?

I think my biggest token of advice for future researchers is to never be afraid. Jump wholeheartedly with both feet to what you enjoy. Even if you find that you don't enjoy it as thought, you have still learned more about yourself, the research process, and how to work with others in a way you won't receive outside of the research community.
