Women In STEM Center

The next TGIS is on September 24!

While recent state law does not allow public institutions like MTSU to mandate the wearing of face masks except under severe and specific conditions (which include a declaration by the governor of a COVID-specific state of emergency),
we strongly recommend their use while inside campus buildings or when social distancing is impractical.

MTSU is the proud home of the Women In STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Center. The WISTEM Center is open to all who support women in STEM on campus, in the community, and across Tennessee.

You can reach us by phone at 615-494-7763 or visit us at Davis Science Building Room 115.

Mission and Goals

The mission of the WISTEM Center is to enable the campus and the community to:

Realize the intellectual potential and utilize the expertise of women in the STEM disciplines.

The goals of the Center are to:

  1. Maximize resources and opportunities for girls and women to pursue STEM education and careers.
  2. Collaborate with PK-16 educational communities, other STEM centers, and other constituencies to maximize efforts supporting women and promoting best practices of gender equity in STEM professions.
  3. Support female STEM professionals in their academic development and career growth.
