Marketing is a great career for creative thinkers interested in business. This program teaches the effective communication, research, and problem-solving skills needed to thrive as a marketing professional. Marketing has a diverse array of career paths, many offering incredible flexibility and high-income potential. Students will engage in coursework including professional preparation in marketing, business communication, e-commerce, professional selling, consumer behavior, market research, and technology.
The Bachelor of Business Administration is offered through the Jones College of Business at MTSU. Students can pursue a generalized approach to marketing or specialize in two distinct concentrations: Marketing, Digital Marketing Concentration, B.B.A. or Marketing, Professional Selling Concentration, B.B.A.

Barbara Scurry earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in marketing a decade ago and to this day says she utilizes the skills of research, prospecting, networking, creating, presenting, and follow-up that she learned at MTSU. With her experiences in manufacturing, financial services, and geriatric health care, her entrepreneurial spirit led her to launch her own company in 2011 — The Money Moxie — in which she offers money-management services to senior citizens and busy professionals who are struggling with their daily personal finances. Her company is in the metro-Atlanta area.

Many Marketing classes, activities, and events help students prepare for a career. BEST (Business Exchange for Student Talent) combines speed networking with a career fair to connect students with over 50 employers. The Professional Preparation in Marketing class helps students focus on their own brand — investigating careers, meeting professionals at business mixers, hearing speakers, building LinkedIn profiles, and practicing interviewing. The Business Communication course addresses one of the most vital elements of any profession: the ability to communicate information effectively. Students learn to communicate in concise, professional, appropriate ways — a skill employers seek. Gaining real-world experience is supported by coordinators who help students find internships. Internship Fairs allow students to make high-payoff contacts with area businesses.
