Who do I call in case of emergency?
If you have an EMERGENCY, CALL 911. Calls from campus telephones will be answered by an University Police Dispatcher. Please note that calls from cell phones on campus are currently answered by the Murfreesboro City Police Dispatch.  If you wish to reach the University Police Department from your cell phone, you should call 615-898-2424.

When is the MTSU Police Department open?
We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Where are you located?

How do I file a report?
To report a crime, please call 615-898-2424 and ask to have a Police Officer sent to your location. Or you can come by our office located in the Public Safety Building at 1412 East Main Street [MAP].

How do I get a copy of an accident or incident report that I filed?
Call ahead (615-898-2424) and see if the report has been approved; if so, come to our office in the Public Safety Building at 1412 East Main Street [MAP].  While the department operates 24 hours a day, reports are typically only available during the university's regular business hours of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

How do I report a crime anonymously?
You may report a crime anonymously either through Crime Stoppers at 893-7867 (STOP) or by calling University Police at 615-898-2424.

How do I get Crime Statistics information?
Statistical information for crimes on campus can be obtained from this website published in the current Annual Security Report.  TBI's Crime on Campus information for MTSU may be found here, or by visiting the TBI website.  Questions regarding crime statistics should be directed to Major Jason Morton by calling 615-898-2424 and asking to speak with him.

How do I contact a specific Officer?
To contact a specific officer, please call 615-898-2424 and your call will be forwarded accordingly. Please note that many of our officers are not always immediately accessible as they are working “on the road” or may even be off-duty. If you need to speak with a specific officer who is not immediately available, please leave a message for him/her.

How do I file a complaint against the University Police Department or a department employee?
University Police makes available to the public several different ways in which a complaint can be filed. Complaints, regardless of the nature, can be received in person, by mail, by e-mail or by phone at any time. (Click for more information)

University Police makes available to the public several different ways in which a compliment can be given. Compliments can be received in person, by mail, by e-mail or by phone at any time by dialing 615-898-2424 and requesting to speak with the on duty patrol supervisor.

How do I register my bicycle?

How do I request an officer to speak to my group on crime prevention?
University Police has several programs on crime prevention (Alcohol Awareness, Sexual Assault Prevention, Theft Prevention, Campus Safety Procedures, and more) that officers may present to students.  Please contact Sergeant Vergena Forbes at 615-494-7904 for more information.

Where can I pay/appeal parking tickets?
MTSU Parking Services is a separate department from University Police.  Please visit the Parking Services website or call Parking Services at: 615-898-2850.
