Advisor Mastery Program (AMP) Workshops

These workshops will focus primarily on advisor skill-building and knowledge-building. Potential topics include:

  • Technical/Software/Administrative skills (Excel, TEAMS, ARGOS, reading high school transcripts, etc.)
  • Advising approaches and best practices
  • Legal/Ethical issues in advising
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Workshops will be offered twice a month, and will generally be worth 1 point (unless otherwise stated). Workshops will vary in terms of being offered in-person or via zoom.

  • Meeting Students Where They Are: Strategies for Supporting Admitted Students Before Their First Day - From Orientation to the first of classes.
    • This training is designed to equip advisors with actionable strategies to support students during the critical transition period between orientation and the start of classes. The session will cover the following key topics: 
      • Prescribed Courses: Understanding their role in guiding students' academic paths and fostering engagement early. 
      • The Role of Advisors in Yield: Exploring whether and how advising impacts enrollment yield by building meaningful connections with admitted students. 
      • Leveraging Navigate: Streamlining outreach efforts using Navigate to efficiently connect with students while maximizing impact. 
      • Post-Orientation Messaging: Developing targeted, timely communication plans to help students stay prepared and engaged after orientation. 

By focusing on meeting students where they are, this training will empower advisors to build trust, relationship, reduce barriers, and set students up for success before their first day on campus.
