Hello family members! We are so glad you are interested in Family Weekend 2014. We have compiled a list of every event taking place on campus, with a brief description, for September 12th - 14th. Take a look at the schedule and mix-and-match your favorite events to make your own personalized Family Weekend experience. And if you are a member of the Parent & Family Association, don’t forget to use your Very Important Parent (VIP) Cards when you come in town for great discounts on food, hotels, and Blue Raider gear at Phillips Bookstore. Friday, September 12

  • Volleyball vs Illinois | 5:00pm | Alumni Memorial Gym
    Come out and support the MTSU Volleyball team in the opening match of their Blue Raider Bash Invitation Tournament. Admission is free for all attendees.
  • Women’s Soccer vs Murray State | 7:00pm | Dean Hayes Soccer Stadium
    Come “kick” your weekend off right with the Lady Raider Soccer team as they take on the Racers of Murray State.
  • Family Movie Night | 7:00pm | Student Union Movie Theater

  • Bash the Rec | 7:30pm-11:45pm
    Stop by the Campus Recreation Center for a night of FREE fun. We'll have the following entertainment available for all attendees: Video Games, Inflatables, Volleyball, Music, Laser Tag, create your own street signs (while supplies last), and much more!

Saturday, September 13

  • Tailgate and Food | 2:00pm-5:00pm — * more info
    Come enjoy some time with other parents and family members in Walnut Grove. Bring out a lawn chair and enjoy the sights and sounds of Blue Raider tailgating. We will have a tent for us to create our own Parent & Family Headquarters. In the grove, there will be free arcade games, High Striker Hammer Bell, laser tag, create your own license plate (while supplies last), and other fun and free activities. There will be a tailgate lunch available at the tent for an easy and delicious pre-game meal. If you are planning on eating at the tailgate meal, please RSVP by calling Latavious Mulzac at 615-898-2202. The cost is $8 per person.

  • Raider Walk | 3:45pm
    Come experience one of MTSU’s most exciting traditions. Raider Walk is a last minute pep rally before every home football game. The band will play, the dance team and cheerleaders will be there to pump up the crowd, and you will have the opportunity to give the football team “high-fives” as they make their way to the football stadium. Don’t miss this fun event! It will take place in Walnut Grove between the blue horseshoe and Peck Hall. You can’t miss it! The sidewalk has “RAIDER WALK” painted on it in huge, bright blue letters.
  • Volleyball vs Belmont | 5:00pm | Alumni Memorial Gym
    Come out and cheer on the MTSU Volleyball team in their in state rivalry game against the Belmont Lady Bruins. Admission is free for all attendees.
  • Football Game vs Western Kentucky 6:00pm Floyd Stadium — * more info
    Be sure to wear your black! This year’s Blackout Game is vs Western Kentucky. Cheer the Blue Raiders on to victory at Jones Field. Your student gets in to all home football games for free, and they can purchase discounted tickets for friends and family members through the Athletic Ticket Office located on the Southwest corner of Floyd Stadium. The student discount is the best deal around! For more information, contact the MTSU ticket office at 615.898.2103, or check them out online at www.goblueraiders.com. Come be a part of the excitement as the Blue Raiders compete against our biggest Conference USA rival. Make sure and stay in your seats during halftime and enjoy a performance from the Band of Blue.

*If you know you will be attending the Tailgate Meal and the Football game Saturday, Athletics is offering a special discounted package for everyone. Get a ticket to the Football game, ticket to the tailgate meal, and an official Blackout Game t-shirt all for just $20! This Family Weekend Package is a limited time offer, so be sure to purchase your tickets by September 8th if you are interested. To purchase the package, click here. Passcode: FAMILY

This package is for family members and guests of students. Since your student already gets in the game for free, the package is not the best value for them. If you purchase the package for yourself and your student is planning to eat with you, you will need  to call Latavious Mulzac in catering to RSVP just for your student. If you are not going to purchase the package but you and your student want to eat at the tailgate, you will need to contact Latavious and RSVP for everyone who is attending, including your student.

If you do not purchase one of the packages in advance, you will need to RSVP and pay at the tent when you arrive to the tailgate. ALSO, if your student has a meal plan, they will be able to exchange one of their meals for that day to get in to the tailgate meal at no additional cost. If your student does not have a meal plan, it will only cost $8 for them to eat at the tailgate.

Sunday, September 14

  • Brunch | 11:00am | Blue Raider Grill in the Student UnionThis is a perfect meal opportunity with your student before you head back home to begin your week. Space is limited, so please RSVP soon. If the 11am time slot fills up, there will be an additional 1:00pm slot created. To reserve your spot at Sunday Brunch, please call Latavious Mulzac at 615-898-2202. The cost is $14 per person, $9.95 for children under 10.
