As a part of MTSU's Department of English, the General Education English Program is dedicated to supporting students enrolled in General Education English courses, which include English 1010: Expository Writing; English 1020: Research and Argumentative Writing; English 2020: Themes in Literature and Culture; and English 2030: The Experience of Literature.

The General Education English Program also provides support and professional development for faculty and graduate students who teach first-year writing and sophomore-level literature courses.
