What does it mean to be a member of MT Lambda?
By joining MT Lambda, you’re joining an organization that has spent the last 30 years building a safe place at MTSU for the LGBT+ and Allied community. MT Lambda is a “home away from home,” a place where anyone can be accepted for who they are without fear of discrimination, criticism, or judgement. As a member of MT Lambda, you will always have a shoulder to lean on, as well as a community where your contributions will be indispensable.
What will I be a part of when I join MT Lambda?
As a member of MT Lambda, you’ll be a part of one of the most diverse groups on campus! Be prepared to make lifelong friends and have one-of-a-kind experiences. To make this happen, we focus on our four core goals:
- Let’s be Social! Just like you, we love movies, game nights, going out for dinner, and lots more. You’ll always be able to find someone to share your time with as a member of MT Lambda!
- We’re eager to be Political. MT Lambda has fought for equality since its formation, and we have no plan of stopping. We encourage all of our members to stand up for the LGBT+ community, and as an organization, MT Lambda works toward being active in our government, raising awareness about issues affecting the LGBT+ community, and educating ourselves and others about organizations or persons fighting for social equality.
- We’re Educational! It’s easy to come across inaccurate depictions of people nowadays, especially the LGBT+ community. MT Lambda works to combat this by providing informational resources and programming to the community at large, as well as keeping ourselves informed about the history of the LGBT+ community.
- Above all else, we’re a Community. You’ll always find someone to help you in MT Lambda, not matter what the situation is. We also strive to provide that same level of support and acceptance to other organizations that are aligned with the LGBT+ community.
Lambda hosts weekly meetings and membership is open to all currently enrolled MTSU students who act in good faith of Lambda's Constitution and Community Standards. Membership dues are announced at the beginning of each academic year and can be paid at any time.
