Hannah Suder Named Recipient of Jim Castañeda Postgraduate Scholarship

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Soccer's Hannah Suder has been awarded the Jim Castañeda Postgraduate Scholarship.

Conference USA honored the 11 accomplished recipients of the Jim Castañeda Postgraduate Scholarship on Thursday. 2023 marks the 15th year the award has been named after Dr. Jim Castañeda, who served Rice for 46 years as an educator, coach and Faculty Athletics Representative before he passed in 2008. Every season, C-USA grants the $4,000 scholarship to distinguished graduates selected by the league's Faculty Athletics Representatives and approved by the Conference USA Board of Directors.

One graduate student-athlete from each C-USA institution was awarded the scholarship.

Suder earned her Bachelor's degree in criminal justice this past August with a concentration in homeland security and minor in Spanish. She has been a member of the Middle Tennessee women's soccer program for four years. The goalkeeper was Summa Cum Laude, a member of the Dean's List, named a Senior Honor Student, a member of the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll multiple times and the C-USA Commissioner's Medal on multiple occasions. Suder currently boasts a 4.0 GPA while pursuing her Master's degree in Criminal Justice with a targeted graduation date of May 2024.

The Jacksonville, Fla. native enters her fifth season this fall in the top 10 of numerous program goalkeeping records, including being sixth in career saves (169), fifth in games started (44) and sixth in minutes played (4,070:32).
