True Blue Core Scholars

COMING SPRING 2026!

What is the True Blue Core (TBC) Scholars Program?

Each year during the spring semester, students who have completed at least half of their Core requirement (21 hours) are invited to become a part of the TBC Scholars program through reflection on the skills and knowledge they’ve acquired in their Core courses or by submitting a project that exemplifies Core skills and knowledge. Students that produce outstanding reflections or projects will be honored at graduation, awarded graduation cords, and featured on the TBC website.

What is a Core Reflection?

Reflections are a high impact practice and a great way for students to connect what they learn in the classroom to their majors and across the disciplines. We welcome students to be creative with their reflections. For example, create a film, record a song, choreograph a dance, write a short essay, showcase your painting skills, craft a drawing, or design a portfolio displaying your photos. Students are encouraged to push the boundaries and create a reflection that embodies what the Core represents.

What is a Core Project?

As an alternative to a Core Reflection, students may submit a project they completed as part of their Core requirements. The project must incorporate and exemplify Core learning with a special focus on meeting the student learning outcomes. The project may take any format as long as it was completed as part of the student’s Core work.

Why Become a Core Scholar?

Benefits:

  • Build your resume.
  • Receive graduation cords and be recognized during graduation.
  • Have your work featured on the TBC Core website.

How are Core Scholars selected?

Reflections or Projects must be submitted in February for review by the True Blue Core Committee. Core Scholars will be announced annually at the end of April.
